  • Social distancing required.

LAMBDA West now accepts Venmo (handle @LambdaWest73).

LAMBDA West is a special interest group of Alcoholics Anonymous for gay men and women (but, in the spirit of the 3rd tradition, all are welcome). At the invitation of Rutgers Church, the group held its first meeting there in February 1985. Ever since, Lambda West has called the Rutgers Church House home. The group is the first group in New York to proclaim, with its very name, that it was a special interest group for lesbians and gay men.

It’s hard to imagine today how much it meant to call a meeting “Lambda” in 1985. After starting small with two Wednesday night meetings, the group quickly grew in popularity. A Wednesday topic meeting and a Saturday rotating step meeting soon followed. Lambda is a safe and welcoming home for the unique issues that gay men and lesbians address in facing the social and political challenges while practicing our sober principles.
