BEGINNERS MEETING

** OPENING **

Hi everyone, my name is ______________________ and I’m an alcoholic.

Welcome to the 7:15 Wednesday beginner's meeting of Lambda. Lambda is a special interest group of Alcoholics Anonymous for Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual and Transgender individuals, but in the spirit of the 3rd tradition, all are welcome.

The A.A. Preamble:

Alcoholics Anonymous is a fellowship of men and women who share their experience, strength and hope with each other that they may solve their common problem and help others to recover from alcoholism. The only requirement for membership is a desire to stop drinking. There are no dues or fees for A.A. membership; we are self-supporting through our own contributions. A.A. is not allied with any sect, denomination, politics, organization or institution; does not wish to engage in any controversy, neither endorses nor opposes any causes. Our primary purpose is to stay sober and help other alcoholics to achieve sobriety.

Lambda currently has three online meetings weekly: Wednesdays there is a 6pm open discussion meeting and this beginner's meeting. Saturdays there is a rotating step meeting from 6-7:15pm.

Our anniversary meeting is held on the last Wednesday of every month in place of the 6pm meeting. Our business meeting is held on the first Wednesday of each month at 7pm.

The format of this meeting is we'll have a speaker share for 20 minutes followed by a secretary's break. We'll resume the meeting with a show of hands until 8:15, starting with people counting days for the first 10 minutes before opening it to everyone.

A brief reminder of the 12th Tradition of A.A.: anonymity is the spiritual foundation of all of our traditions, ever reminding us to place principles before personalities. So who you see here and what you hear here, please leave it here, so that this remains a safe place for us all.

Lastly, please keep yourself muted so as not to interfere with the speaker. And now to share their experience, strength and hope with us is______________________.
